Marnar Bruk

We wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year! We will be closed from 20 December and back on 2 January.

Meet Storm Grey, our latest colour addition

In recent years, we've seen a number of trends when it comes to colour choices in cladding for houses and cabins. One of the biggest trends is the use of natural palettes and materials that reflect and complement their surroundings. It was also against this backdrop that the idea of our latest colour, Storm Grey, was born.

A colour at one with nature

Nature's play of colours

Storm grey came from the desire to capture the darkness of the storm clouds, the green of the moss, the grey of the mountains and the brown of the soil. We wanted a colour with play, a colour that changed with the light and a colour that reflected the nature around us. Storm grey will look equally at home in a cabin in the mountains, a functional home in the city or a country house by the sea. Storm grey looks great on its own, but can also be combined with our other colours. The combination of Storm Grey on the cladding and black on the windows is already proving to be a success.

Choose a colour you like.
You'll have it for a long time.

Marnar Bruk Royal

Modern and contemporary

With so much colour play, we believe that Storm Grey will largely harmonise with most surroundings. It has a natural dark grey tone with a visible wood structure, but also a warm green that will shine through when the materials are new. It's a colour that will suit most architectures and will also remain modern and contemporary for a long time. As we like to say at Marnar Bruk: Choose a colour you like. You'll be wearing it for a long time. Grey really is one of the colours that has increased in popularity in recent years, and we're confident that we'll see a lot of functional homes in Storm Grey in the future.

Things to consider when choosing the colour of cladding for your house and cottage:

  • Surrounding nature and landscape
  • The architecture of the house or cabin
  • Size and shape of the building
  • Local traditions and regulations
  • Light conditions
  • Maintenance
  • Colour duration and trends
  • Combination with other materials

A combination of tradition and trend

The colour palette of Marnar Bruk Royal has evolved over time. From the start with Weather Grey and Tar Brown - on to traditional Ochre and Barn Red - then Clay Grey and the trend colour Nordic Black - which we launched in 2017. All colours are transparent and bring out the structure of the wood. This also applies to the latest addition, Storm Grey.

Our customers are wondering:

Royal oil consists of linseed oil with or without pigment. Royal oil fills the pores in the wood and is pressed 1-3 mm into the surface of the wood and up to 15-20 mm into the end grain. Royal oil comes in 6 different colours, where the colour we call "Weather Grey" is without pigments and will turn grey naturally through weather and wind.

Marnar Bruk Royal has transparent colours where the wood structure should be visible. The colour can therefore vary from one table to another, creating a nice play on the facade or terrace. If you want something more opaque, you should consider a painted product.

Resin is a natural part of the wood, but is an important factor in the quality and longevity of the materials. Resin rashes may occur for periods, but will usually disappear again. The weather will have a major impact on this. Alternatively, this must be scraped off.
